On 18 April 2019 (Geneva), the WTO released WTO expert panel’s report on the case appealed by the United States regarding China-tariff quota management measures for wheat, rice, and corn.
The head of MOFCOM Department of Treaty and Law commented on this. He said that the panel rejected the US’ request for releasing the quota allocation, and China welcomed this. The panel found that China's administration of tariff rate quota violated the commitment of accession, and China felt sorry for it.
The head said that China has always respected the WTO rules. China will carefully evaluate the panel report, properly handle it according to the WTO dispute settlement procedures, actively maintain the stability of the multilateral trade system, and continue to administer the tariff rate quotas for agricultural imports in consistent with the WTO rules.
