On January 24, 2019, jointly hosted by the Ministry of Commerce and the Embassy of Rwanda in China and organized by China International Electronic Commerce Center (CIECC), the Silk Road Rwanda-China Enterprises Exchange Meeting was held in Hangzhou.
Rwandan Ambassador to China Charles Kayonga, Marketing Strategy Specialist of National Agricultural Export Development Board Robinah Uwera, 32 Rwandan coffee export companies and representatives of some Chinese companies attended the meeting and exchanged views. The Training Institute and the Department of International Cooperation of CIECC jointly organized this meeting. Deputy General Manager of the Department of Training Business Qi Quan spoke on behalf of the Chinese side and presided over the exchange meeting.
Marketing Strategy Specialist of National Agricultural Export Development Board Robinah Uwera said that at present, the Rwandan government is committed to building national e-commerce software and hardware infrastructure. Holding the exchange meeting is of great significance to Rwanda’s promotion of e-commerce development. She hoped that this exchange meeting will enable Rwandan enterprises to better understand the Chinese e-commerce and improve the level of e-commerce application.
CIECC’s specially employed experts Xu Dadi and Huang Yan, and the representative of the Netease Yanxuan Zhou Lin shared ideas from the theoretical and practical perspectives on the practice of China's e-commerce platform, creating new channels for agricultural products sales through e-commerce, expanding e-commerce export and distribution channels, the strategies of Rwandan agricultural products entering the Chinese market by means of e-commerce respectively, which has provided professional knowledge and matchmaking platform for Rwandan agricultural products to enter the Chinese market. After the sharing, members of the Rwandan delegation and experts conducted long, heated and in-depth conversations on how to establish Rwandan agricultural product brands and how to enter the Chinese e-commerce platform for brand cooperation, promotion and operation. Good effects were achieved.
In his summary, Ambassador Kayonga highly praised that this exchange is professional, targeted and forward-looking and expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Ministry of Commerce and CIECC. He said that since the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on E-Commerce Cooperation Between China and Rwanda, the exchanges between the governments and enterprises of the two countries have been continuously strengthened. This event took a solid step in promoting practical cooperation in e-commerce between the two countries. He hoped that the Rwandan delegation would fully listen to the opinions of experts, strengthen communication and coordination, learn about Chinese e-commerce, promote the cooperation and exchange of e-commerce between the two sides and contribute to building the China-Rwanda community of shared destiny.
The successful holding of this meeting is another concrete measure of the CIECC to implement the Memorandum of Understanding on E-Commerce Cooperation Between China and Rwanda. Next, the Training Institute will continue to cooperate with the Department of International Cooperation to actively support the Ministry of Commerce in developing the Silk Road E-commerce.
