On November 27 local time, the handover ceremony of China-aided Chinese Library Project of University of Dar es Salaam of Tanzania was grandly held in the capital of Tanzania. Attending were more than one thousand people including Tanzania’s President Magufuli, Chinese ambassador to Tanzania Wang Ke, and the high-ranking officials of the party, government and military, foreign envoys in Tanzania, the representatives of Chinese enterprises and overseas Chinese, teachers and students of the University of Dar es Salaam and the Confucius Institute.
Ambassador Wang Ke said in his speech that the traditional friendship between China and Tanzania is profound. In order to support the development of Tanzania’s education industry, the Chinese government built this library. This is the largest and most modernized library with most complete functions built by the Chinese government in Africa in recent years. It is hoped that the library will become an important platform of Dar es Salaam University to teach people, promote the cultural exchanges between China and Tanzania, and add new impetus and new connotations to the mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Tanzania and benefit the people of the two countries.
President Magufuli spoke highly of the relations between China and Tanzania and their traditional friendship in his speech. He said that China is a true friend of Tanzania, and China has never attached any political conditions to Tanzania. The modern and well-equipped library supported by the Chinese government is another monument of the friendship between Tanzania and China, and Tanzanian government and the people cherish it extremely and are very grateful.
After the speech, Ambassador Wang Ke and President Magufuli jointly unveiled the plaque of the library. At the handover ceremony, Chinese volunteers from the Confucius Institute and teachers and students from the University of Dar es Salaam sang the national anthems of China and Tanzania, and gave wonderful dragon and lion dances and African dance performances.
