On July 5, 2018, the 24th China Lanzhou Investment and Trade Fair opened in Lanzhou. Vice-Chairman of the CPPCC Chen Xiaoguang attended the event and announced the opening. Vice Minister of Commerce Gao Yan attended the event and made a speech.
Gao said that this year marks the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening up, and we are standing at the new start of the opening up. MOFCOM will deeply implement the decisions and deployment of the CPC and the State Council together with relevant departments. Based on the principle of achieving shared growth through discussion and collaboration, we will facilitate and promote the Belt and Road construction, constantly improve the level of opening up and pursue opening up on all fronts.
Gao Yan pointed out that in the last five years since the Belt and Road Initiative was proposed, the western inland provinces such as Gansu have once again become the frontier of China’s opening up, and Gansu Province has gradually become an important gateway for China’s opening up to the west and a strategic base for sub-regional cooperation. MOFCOM will support Gansu's shift between the old and new engines, business transformation and upgrading, domestic trade circulation innovation, and foster new advantages in foreign trade competition. MOFCOM will support Gansu's investment attraction and foreign investment, and carry out international capacity cooperation to promote the new achievements of Gansu’s open economy. At the same time, MOFCOM will continue to support the holding, development, improving and upgrading of Lanzhou Fair, and endeavor to provide support and services for the accelerated opening up and overall rise of the western region including Gansu Province.
Deputy Secretary-General of CPC Gansu Provincial Committee and Provincial Governor Tang Renjian hosted the opening ceremony, and Secretary-General of CPC Gansu Provincial Committee and the Chairman of the Standing Committee of Gansu Provincial People's Congress Lin Duo delivered a welcome speech. Co-hosted by MOFCOM and Gansu Provincial People's Government, the Fair’s theme is “deepening economic and trade cooperation to build green Silk Road”, aiming to deepen the economic and trade cooperation and exchanges between Gansu and the countries and regions along the Belt and Road routes. Attending were representatives of government departments, diplomatic envoys in China, international organizations, Chinese and foreign investment promotion agencies and enterprises from 25 guest countries of honor such as Singapore and ROK.
